With a decade of success behind them, Mariachi Mujer 2000 has continued to amaze audiences throughout the world. In addition to their appearance at the 2008 Summer Olympics in China, in 2007, at the Montecito home of Oprah Winfrey, Mariachi Mujer 2000 had the pleasure of performing for President Barack Obama during his run for office. In 2004, Mariachi Mujer 2000 achieved another professional accomplishment by performing in Guadalajara, Mexico, at the prestigious “Teatro Degollado” where they received a full house standing ovation and a personal congratulation from the legendary maestro Ruben Fuentes, the phenomenal arranger and owner of Mariachi Vargas de Tecalitlan.

From its inception, the goal of Mariachi Mujer 2000 has been to demonstrate that women can compose, arrange, and perform some of the most challenging pieces in mariachi music. The group continues to be lead and directed by women. Mariachi Mujer 2000 is comprised of hand selected women musicians from all over the nation. Many of the members hold bachelor’s degrees and various credentials in education. Mariachi Mujer 2000 teaches at workshops, festivals, elementary schools, and universities throughout the country. They want to continue to set the examples as role models for the younger generation of today in order to keep mariachi music alive and flourishing.
