Master class on documentary queer media production and social justice with Pratibha Parmar

The Mosbacher/Gartrell Center for Media Experimentation and Activism

West Hall, Q116

Friday, November 9

10 a.m. - 12 p.m.

As part of her visit to the Claremont Colleges, Pratibha Parmar will conduct a master class on documentary, queer media production, and social justice with students, faculty, and interested community members. This is a rare opportunity to interact directly with Parmar, a veteran filmmaker who has explored issues of race, feminism, sexuality and creativity in her twenty-plus year career. Her media productions, including Khush (1991), A Place of Rage (1991), Warrior Marks (1993) and Nina's Heavenly Delights (2006) embody the intersections of women of color experiences, LBGTQ organizing, and cultural and identity politics of these communities. In the workshop, Parmar will discuss specific works from her oeuvre as well as comment on student projects.

Space is limited, RSVP require for attendance. Lunch is included.
